Adorable characters and an engrossing plot make 'Fern's Dragon' one of the best children's novels around.

Colourful and cheerful, adventurous and funny, this novel is everything a child wants to read.

Adults too will happily read Wills' novel to their child over and over, which is good as the child will demand that the book be read each and every night.

'Fern's Dragon' centres around the story of a little girl named Fern, who loves dragons. When a dragon she makes out of sand comes to life, she is thrown into an underwater world of adventure and fun, meeting all sorts of colourful characters. Fern and her dragon friends Nogard and Dora must to battle with the evil dragon Hetfield to save the Kingdom of the Dragons. Of course, suspence is perfectly built through the need to rescue the dragon

king, and like all children, Fern's need to be home by a certain time.

The book is beautifully presented and wonderfully colourful, making children want to read it from first sight. The picture of Nogard on the front is cute but unnecessary, given the author's skill at describing each and every one of the many brilliant characters.

I cannot give 'Fern's Dragon' enough credit. It is simply a brilliant book, and for young children learning to read, or still being read to, it is as close to perfect as I have seen.
