The story is told of the Great Kings of Ancient Africa who when there died were buried with there precious possession and even servant. This was done to assist them in the new live after death so they believed.
The believe was that the dead would have a continuity of there good life on earth using the buried riches, the servants would continue serving the king etc.
Proofs of this believe has been unearthed by excavations of the tombs of the pharaohs of Egypt.
Jesus Christ also taught is follower on investments. For the Christian no investment lesson should be more important than that taught by his/her Lord.
Mathew 6:19-20. (Mt 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: Mt 6:20 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal :)
In the verses quoted above, Jesus is teaching that there's a channel of wealth transfer that's open to the believer. What the Egyptian perceived and did wrongly can be achieved through the lessons of Christ.
The challenge is for you and me to find the channel by which this wealth transfer will apply to us.
For what reason to we work so hard; why do you strife to gain so much that you will only leave behind. The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes calls this vanity. You build, acquire, things. Name them after our selves then die and leave them behind.
Yet Jesus has provided a way of transfer beyond our life.
Christian must invest, but the primary investment lesson must come from the above mentioned Scripture. Whatever we seek to invest in must be directed by us seeking the Lord.
Remember we are also warned to be careful not to give our precious treasures to swine for they will trample them under foot with the mud. You will have lost an opportunity to further your heavenly account.
All investments that a Christian undertakes must have a focus on the Kingdom. Consider how short our time on earth is; and how long eternity is as you pursue ways of investment.
We should also look at the Lord's teachings and pick where He talked of rewards to the faithful ones.
In parable of the stewards in Luke 19:12-24 The Kingdom of God is like … The Master left each servant a Talent(s) … God has given to each person Talent(s), each one of us will determine what we will invest in. The master of the servants came back and commended the servants who increased the talents by investing.
Jesus is our master, who has given to all of us talent, I wander what results Jesus will laud: Will He be impressed by the amount of money you horde in your bank account? The number of homes, cars you have, the physical size of your church?
Or will he commend us as shown by the following scripture:
I was hungry and you gave me bread, thirst and you gave me water, naked and you clothed me? Mathew 25:35
Remember Jesus came to reach man,
Why should you invest in The Kingdom?
1. It's for your own good. Just as any investment you undertake here on earth you expect favorable returns. Jesus in the above quoted scripture offers you a safe storage for that which you will send on through him. 2. It's required of you. Similar to the stewards whose master bestowed talent(s); you have also been given talent(s) whose returns will be required of you. 3. Your love for the Kingdom and purposes of God on the earth. "By this shall all [men] know that ye are my disciples, if ye love one another” John 13:35 Love for that which the Lord loves; the lost, needy among you, especially them of the Household of faith. 4. It's for this reason that God gave you the talent(s) in the first place. You are blessed to be a blessing. 5. In your investing in the Kingdom therein lays your true increase and wealth.
How to invest in the Kingdom!
The kingdom here speaks of the purposes of God. These are the intentions of God for man on the earth.
The first question that you will have to answer is;
What do I have that I can give?
Note: Nothing is too little to be given. Jesus standing at the temple indicated that the poor woman who gave a single coin gave more than the rich man who put a sack full of money into the temple treasurer. That's seeing through heavens eyes.
Heavenly treasure investment may and in most cases look erroneous or insignificant to the earthly focused person.
It does not seek earthly reward, Will not look for the applause of men. Will be in secret (the left hand not knowing what the right does). Will not seek to publish it to gain recognition. Does not just give or offer out of the surplus one has but is sacrificial in nature ( Jesus said, no greater love is there than when a man lays down his/her life for a friend)
To become an investor in Heaven and begin this wealth transfer; you will first have to open an account in Heaven. This you will do by heeding the teaching of Christ. Ask Him to set His Kingdom in your life. Acknowledge your need of His help; Ask for a new start and seek Him to lead you into becoming a truly Kingdom Investor.
For you who is a Christian and a true follower of Christ; The Kingdom should take precedence in the life of every believer. Seek Him to open opportunities for Kingdom Investment. You will be surprised.
Be an investor beyond this Life!
