Women love charm, so long as it is natural, cool and unpretentious. Watch any Cary Grant movie - especially with Audrey Hepburn. Charm is good manners. Charm is respect. It shows you are paying attention to her.

Some women will protest if you open car doors for them - they want to assert their independence and do not want to be patronised, as they see it. If your date responds in this way, then let her open her own doors - let her do it for you, if she insists - but maintain a polite and respectful attitude nevertheless.

Cultivate good manners, but don't confuse charm with slick and sticky. Don't crawl, don't indulge her every whim and don't automatically agree with everything she says. Women hate a pushover.

Good-tempered arguments are fine as part of a wider discussion, but steer clear of any kind of attack on her beliefs or values - however veiled - as she will take it personally and you will probably never get a second date.
