Boy the Da Vinci Code has no doubt seen its share of controversy and has sold millions of copies because of it. Do you have a copy of the Best Selling "Da Vinci Code" and if you do you are certainly not alone. Just go into any of your friend's homes and see for yourself, there it is on their shelves too.

So, what is the controversy now? Well it seems that some people of faith are a little upset with the story and trying to figure out a way to sue the author. This time for copyright infringement as they say that the Da Vinci Code has lifted some theories or premises from a couple of other books written previously. Namely the Holy Blood and the Holy Grail. They say he stole their central theme, which is rather interesting as we know that Romeo and Juliet was re-done as "Westside Story” and we all know that nearly every story is modeled off of a certain general theme, storyline or genre.

We also know that copyright law is meant to protect actual words, complex sentences an

d paragraphs of text, or even titles and subtitles of works. However it was never meant to be used as a tool to attack another for a competitive reason, deny someone their right to freedom of the press or protect a theory, theme or genre of a literary work. So what is the deal here? Obviously this is a frivolous suit, but it is also a sign of the times and shows problems with our civilization and our legal system. Consider this in 2006.
