Page Rank (PR) is something that we can't ignore. It's helps us rank in Google for keywords that people search for. Most pages when created will start out with N/A pagerank, basically meaning that they don't have any. You can increase this rank by increasing the number of links into your site. There are also a number of other ways to do this.

However, the higher the PR of the site that is linking to you then the more of a knock on effect it will have to your site. This is mainly because you are having a site that is "well established” and recognised already within the Search Engines. So for example if a site with a PR8 links to you, then this would do your own Page Rank wonders.

Now, PR is not something that you can change overnight. It's generally only updated about every 2-3 months. This gives you plenty of time to exchange links with High PR sites.

A quick & easy way to get some incoming links to your site, and this is good especially if you're just starting out; is to submit your site to Directories. A directory is basically a huge collection of links organised by category so that Surfers can find lots of websites in the same niche or category easily & quickly.

There are a huge amount of directories out there, some are free, others will require you to pay for inclusion in their listings. The choice is yours, I personally would submit to the best free directories I could find first & see how this effects your Page Rank. It is important to submit your site to qua

lity directories & not ones that could be classed as "link farms” (over 100 outgoing links on one page), Google doesn't like those sorts of sites for some reason.

Tips for Submitting

Roboform will easily store forms that you have already typed in. So when submitting your website to a web directory, you only have to find the correct category then hit a button on the toolbar to automatically fill in the forms. Easy.

Submitting your site to these directories should be enough to get you on your way to increasing your PR to 3 or more come the next PR update, all you need to do now is work on increasing your backlinks & adding quality content to your site.
