Is your son or daughter's homework causing undo stress to both you and your child? Has homework time become a recurring battle to get it done? No worries, you are far from alone! Homework doesn't have to be stressful. In fact, it's meant to be a positive aspect of your child's education.

It is important to establish a routine for your child. Set aside a particular time during the day when your child is to do their homework, and be sure not to deviate from this routine.

You should also make sure they have an environment conducive to learning. So set up a desk for them, or clear the clutter off the dining room table. Turn the TV or music off, and try not to do any chores that could be distracting.

Ultimately you'll need to give it some time, but eventually your child will become more accepting of getting their homework done if they know it must be done at a designated time each day.

Parenting can be very frustrating at times, as always it's important to re

flect on our methods and evaluate whether they're effective. If your child absolutely hates doing their homework, take the time to try and understand exactly what the problem is. If you're frustrated, chances are they are too.

Children don't always know how to ask for help or express their feelings. So take the time to talk to your child and see if you can understand their resistance to homework assignments.
