Quit Clowning Around Blushing 101

Don't want to look like a clown? Then get the low down on how to choose the correct blush for your skin type.

Step 1: Choose a Shade - Pinch your cheeks gently so they flush -this is the blush tone that suits you. As a rule, light peach and pink flatters pale skin, apricot and terracotta give warmth to olive complexions, reddish and coral tones compliment darker skin. Cream and gels blend easily but use powder if your prone to acne.

Step 2: Contour with Colour - If using powder blush, set foundation with translucent powder. Smile into a mirror, applying blush over the cheeks with a fingertip, brush or damp sponge, blending up and out. For powder, use a swirling motion over apples of the cheeks, blending up to the temples.

Step 3: Glow baby glow - accentuate cheekbone contour with a little shimmer. Use cream highlighter with cream or gel blush. White or silver suits fair skin, bronze or berry suits darker complexions. Apply just above cheekbones, where light hits, then blend so there's no visible line.
